Heritage Christian Early Learning Center

Where we Play, Learn and Grow with Christian Values

About Us

Heritage Christian Early Learning Center is a fun place to learn and grow in the love of Jesus. Bible stories and songs are a highlight of our daily schedule, complementing the customary Early Childhood Educational planning. Christian values are communicated through play, music, dance, drama and puppetry. Prayer over snack time, the science table and our Bible learning time are examples of how we integrate our Biblical beliefs into the daily routine.

Our Program provides a full schedule with a creative variety of activities

  • Looking at the whole child as they grow;
  • Learning is according to readiness;
  • In a relaxed group setting.

The Monday and Wednesday morning class has a specific pre-Kindergarten focus. However, all of our classes offer the same curriculum. If your four year old child is enrolled in a different class, they will be presented with the same learning opportunities.

Our Team

Manager & Program Co-ordinator: Tonya Kuchma

In 1998, as Tonya was seeking God’s direction regarding a career, she had a dream about working for Heritage Christian Early Learning Center. Within a week she was asked to work as an assistant. Thus began her journey at the Preschool. In 2000, Tonya enrolled in the Early Childhood Educator program at OUC. She continued to teach and then stepped up to the role of Manager in 2008. Tonya’s vibrant love for Jesus, as well as her excellent program development skills, create an enriching and fun environment for the children. She is married to Robert and together they have four adult children.

Childcare Specialist: Mikiko Brown

Mikiko has been living in beautiful Kelowna British Columbia with her husband for over 25 years. She moved to Kelowna from Japan and enjoys living her life to the fullest. During her free-time Mikiko likes to spend time with her husband and friends. Being outdoors is also close to her heart as she walks/hikes in the warmer seasons and snowboards in the winter. She has been a part of KCC (Kelowna Christian Center) and their ministry team for over 25 years. Mikiko was certified as an Early Childhood Educator and Infant and Toddler Educator more than 10 years ago. Mikiko has worked in both 3-5 year old daycare centers as well as infant and toddler daycare centers. She loves being involved in the lives of little ones helping them to grow each day. Her desire is to help develop each child’s social, physical, emotional and cognitive development to enhance their ability to become the best they can be in God’s eyes.

Teacher: Esther Mak

Esther completed her Early Childhood Educator certificate at Okanagan College in 2016. Prior to her official certification she had been working with children in various centers and programs, as well as a variety of children's ministries. It has always been her belief that guiding, teaching and caring for children is so important because they are the future. She believes that children truly are a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), and as such should be experiencing the love of Christ daily. Her passion for early childhood learning shines through in her ability to provide a calm and loving atmosphere for children to learn creatively and grow in. This past year Esther and her husband have gained a newfound respect and admiration for all parents, as they welcomed their precious little girl into the world.
